Well, I must say that I am pretty stoked about this new selection I have of Sports Authority. I definitely think I am going to have to pick that one. I already have some great workout DVDs and tons of great music, but what I really need now is some new running shoes. So in case anyone is wondering what I will be doing with the gift card, that will be it.
Thanks so much for everyone's participation in this. I also feel much closer as a family by having this common goal we are working on. Now my only question is, when do we start again? I know that this little competition sure helped me make healthier decisions this year. So thanks again, and especially to Sharon for doing all the hard work.

thanks
I just wanted to thank everyone for voting for me. It is a real honor. I must have done something right. I think it helps to have MOM somewhere in your name. I want you to know that I will treasure the Golden Sneaker and keep it safe for the next person to win it. For this whole year it will have a place of honor on my mantle. I would also like to donate the cash award back in the pot to be won by someone next year. You all are in the running. If I can win it, anybody can. I hope the pot will be twice as much next year. Thanks to Sharon for doing all the work to head this up. She really went the extra mile. To all of you: For your health's sake, keep up the good work. I know that many of you made your goal or tried extra hard to do so. I feel that this contest has brought us closer as a family.

Announcing the 2011 Golden Sneaker Challenge Winner!
Well, the votes were varied and each person that was voted for definitely deserved their nomination. However, there was a clear winner who won by a comfortable majority…
And the winner is MOM! (A.K.A. Phyllis, Grandma)
| Yes, that is a Christmas morning pic of her opening the gift from all of us. Look how pleased she is! |
Some of the comments that accompanied her votes pointed out that she was a fantastic example of diligence and hard work and put so much effort into encouraging and motivating the rest of us throughout the entire year.
I know that Mom won’t feel she is as deserving as some of the others in our family, but nothing pleases me more than to declare our 75-year-old family matriarch the winner of our first Golden Sneaker Challenge.
You are amazing, Mom! Display your Golden Sneaker trophy with pride and let us know how you’ll spend your $200!
I must also announce the winner of the Not-So-Dumbbell award: ASHLEE! She beat us all quite handily and was a great example of enthusiastically overcoming lazy! Thanks for reporting in so regularly, Ashlee, and for being such a great source of inspiration! The prize is your choice of $50 iTunes gift card or an exercise DVD but now I’m adding a 3rd option since there are so many apps where you can download that kind of stuff for free. Option #3 is a $50 to Sport Authority. So email me and let me know, Ashlee!
Congratulations to our hard-working winners!

Cast Your Vote!
It’s time to declare the winner of the 2011 Golden Sneaker Challenge!
I like to think that we’re all winners, of course.
But I’ve got some cash burning a hole in my safe and a cool trophy to award, so, let’s get voting!
You’ve all got ONE WEEK to email me with your selection. So the deadline is JANUARY 8. I ask you to email me so it’ll all be confidential. In matters of the Golden Sneakers, it’s best to email my lazypersonaltrainer@yahoo.com account.
Please vote for someone who you feel did a great job Overcoming Lazy this past year. Choose someone who impressed you with their efforts for making their lives healthier and happier… whether they achieved their initial goal or not. That’s it. It’s that simple. We’ll all have our reasons for picking who we pick and it might be a little tough to pick just one person (so many of you did fabulously!)
So, ponder, ruminate, and email me! Oh, and please include your tally for your Random Acts of Fitness and Random Acts of Kindness for December's Challenge. I've got to calculate a winner for the Not-So-Dumbbell Award too!
